Blase’s Commentary on Cuba
Well, friends, there is so much misinformation and disinformation about Cuba that you pretty much have to reinvent the wheel every time you talk about it.
Fidel Castro visited the United States after President Eisenhower recognized the revolutionary government in 1959. Fidel stayed here from April 15 to April 26, 1959. As usual, he said what he intended to do, and how he hoped he could work with us and thought we would have an excellent relationship.
But it was obvious that he differed just slightly from what Wall Street might want. So, in short order, President Eisenhower authorized the CIA to organize, train and equip Cuban refugees as guerrilla forces to overthrow Castro and the Cuban Revolution.
The Kennedy Administration is saddled with the Bay of Pigs invasion, even though Kennedy said he understood very well why the citizens of Cuba would want to overthrow the Batista regime. That invasion was hung around neck by the CIA, with whom he developed a terrible relationship and ultimately said “I am going to break the CIA into a thousand pieces.” (Read More)
