Blase’ Commentary on the Culture of Perpetual War (part one)
Hello, this is Blase Bonpane with World Focus coming to you from KPFK/ Los Angeles. We are podcast and available 24/7 at kpfk.org where we are heard internationally.
Well friends, Mother Agnes Mariam of the Cross is back in LA again, direct from Syria. She will be speaking today, Sunday, May 4th at 1:30 in Glendale at the United Methodist Church Hall at 134 North Kenwood Street. You can check for more information at nobombs4Syria.com.
She’s speaking again at 6pm in Glendora where she’s have a presentation and remarks.
Mother Agnes tells a story that is very different from what we get on the western media. She has spoken at various places around the world and organized an international delegation led by Nobel Peace laureate Mairead Maguire to come to Syria. She’s one of the main organizers of Musalaha (“reconciliation”), a popular movement in Syria that mediates disputes and organizes ceasefires between opposing forces.
Friends, many people just don’t understand reconciliation. It does not include taking a side. It includes bringing sides together and to get them to talk to each other. We’ve seen remarkable results of such type of reconciliation in Latin America and in South Africa and in so many places in the world. Just to make out of this a football game and be a cheering section for one bombing or another bombing is the problem. She’s trying to help us understand what reconciliation means. These are the voices of truth.
