PACIFICA COMMENTARY FOR SEPTEMBER 9, 2004
TO HONOR THE DEAD AND FIGHT FOR THE LIVING
Hello, this is Blase Bonpane with a comment. Today we commemorate the lives sacrified
on the filthy altar of war profiteers and pathological liars who are recklessly driving a
a ship of state they cannot steer.
Mr. Halliburton tells us that the losses are light and that is because the losses are light to
him. They mean nothing to him.
Mr. Halliburton also stated this week that if the democrats should win, "the
danger is that we'll get hit again." Is that a threat Mr. Haliburton? He also said that our
people might believe that "these terrorist attacks are just criminal acts." They were
criminal acts, Mr. Haliburton. They were definitely not the acts of any one nation and no
nation should have been attacked because of them. They rightfully should have been dealt
with by international police science.
Friends, there are over forty vigils for peace taking place in the greater Los Angeles
areas every week. And some people still say, "Where's the peace movement?"
Join us tonight to commemorate the dead and wounded, primarily civilians, in this
thirteen year old massacre which was originally called the Gulf War.
In view of the fact that there are over 700 vigils planned nationally on this occasion
of the death of over 1,000 US service people, not to mention the thousands of severely
wounded together with and endless number of Iraqi women, men and children, go
directly to <moveon.org> to find the vigil nearest you. Most of these vigils will be
tonight, Thursday, September 9th and a few will be on Friday, September 10th.
Think of all the plans and dreams that have been shattered by this unnecessary slaughter.
Think of all those who come home are who are declared normal who will take their own
lives as in the wake of Vietnam. Almost 60,000 dead in battle and more than 60,000
suicides in the aftermath of that failed venture.
Friends it seems quite clear that our government is not capable of solving its addiction to
war. Our lawless administration continues to bomb homes, kill whole families, lay seige
to neighborhoods and shoot Iraqis day in and day out on their own streets, in their own
land. This death making addiction pushed by war profiteers will only be solved by
millions of citizens demanding a civil society marked by national and international
legality.
