PACIFICA COMMENTARY FOR NOVEMBER 25, 2004

THANKSGIVING

Hello, this is Blase Bonpane with a comment. Let us be thankful that Mr. Nixon had the

brilliance to resign from the presidency in August of 1974. And remember, this

resignation was over a little thing called the Watergate Caper. Our current situation is

many times worse that Watergate.

We are also thankful that many Generals in the United States military have denounced

the War in Iraq.

And we are thankful that torture is absolutely forbidden by the Universal Declaration of

Human Rights and that those responsible must be punished..

Let us be thankful for the unembedded reporters who at great risk are practicing

investigative journalism and identifying the terror practiced in our name.

And our thanks to the people of Spain who have removed their neo-fascist leader and

replaced him with a brilliant progressive, Mr. Shoemaker (Zapatero).

And we must not forget the well organized and courageous people of Bolivia who

removed their incompetent president by way of militant non-violence.

And gratitude to the people of Ecuador who removed two presidents without access to

the armed struggle.

And thanks to the people of Brazil who placed a life long labor leader into the leadership

of one of the world's largest countries.

And congratulations to the people of Haiti for getting exactly the President they wanted

elected by two landslide victories. His removal by our misguided leadership

simply indicts them with one more criminal act.

And congratulations to those people in the United States and in the Ukraine who are

demanding electoral justice.

And thanks to those citizens working to eliminate that ancient relic called the Electoral

College, which is a clear statement of the lack of trust our founders had in the common

people.

And thanks for stunning overreach of the Republican Congress as they try in vain to

protect their leader from the demands of ethics.

And thanks to the people of Venezuela who have chosen an African, Indian, Latino who

represents the common good of that great country.

Oh yes, and thanks for those who want to allow someone not born in the USA to be

president, for example Jean Bertrand Aristide.

Take heart America, the dawn is about to break, the dark days of state terror and the reign

of the father of lies is waning.
